We went with the DDP Yoga Retreat group and were lucky enough to have Sally Jane Smith and her assistant Meghan of TravelSmiths on site during our trip to handle all of group's needs. Between TravelSmiths and the staff of the hotel, we were very spoiled! The hotel itself is beautiful! A tropical paradise. You could walk around the resort just staring at the beautiful scenery all day and be in heaven. They are constantly cleaning and maintaining the property so nothing is ever out of place.
I read a few reviews about the beaches being horrible with sandbags.
There are sandbags - in the water - and they are there for a reason! The beaches have soft, white sand that is perfect for running your toes through! The water is clear and gorgeous. Our favorite was Sante Fe although I will admit we did not have time to try them all. We did have a few problems understanding exactly what was on the menu at times but the staff was always kind enough to explain and answer questions. In our group, we have several people opting to eat gluten-free and dairy-free and they were very accommodating to those needs as well. If you have food allergies, be aware of cross contamination.
That was an issue at the Health Bar for one of our group. My husband and I did have the couples massage at the spa. Go for the Sky massage! Even if it's hot outside the breeze from the ocean will keep you comfortable. We had Sara and Josefina as our therapist. Do not be fooled by the size of the little ladies with their tiny hands! We had the deep tissue massage and they will put the hurt on you! Excellent massage for our stiff muscles after all the work outs from our DDP Yoga sessions. We choose the Ocean View Swim Out Junior Suite. Loved having the lazy river right outside our door.
